THE Dumfries Harriers turned out in strong numbers and produced an excellent set of performances in the annual X Border 10K last Sunday.

The race once again delivered a superb day of running as more than 2000 participants made the iconic journey running from Carlisle to Gretna, crossing the Anglo Scottish border in perfect racing conditions.

First Harrier home was Emma Gillooly, running an impressive 42:35, and sending a strong signal for the year ahead after battling recent injury struggles. This race marked her return to form and a clear intention to lay down a marker for the season.

Close behind was Alex Dingwall, the club’s current male Grand Prix Champion, who showed great resilience amid ongoing knee issues to deliver a determined 43:54.

He was followed by Lee Austin in 50:24.

Strong, consistent performances continued with Ian Dalrymple in 54:28 and a trio of personal bests from Tina Roscoe in 54:53, Helen Anderson in 57:35 and Vanessa Linden in 1:01:37.

There were solid efforts from Anna Dunlop in 59:00, Christine Proudfoot in 1:00:30 and Karrie Milroy in 1:01:28, while Graeme Galloway in 1:04:26, Lauren Souter in 1:07:20 and Jane Lenza in 1:07:29 all delivered committed runs across the course.

Rounding off the Harriers’ contingent, Hazel Robertson in 1:10:37 and Ashley Lord in 1:19:23 showed great determination to complete the iconic border crossing route.

With strong results, multiple PBs and athletes returning to form, the Dumfries Harriers once again demonstrated their depth, spirit and competitive strength at one of the region’s most popular events.
