DEFENDER Jack Hannah is likely to miss Queen of the South’s first home league match of the season against Hamilton Accies.

The centre back hasn’t trained this week after he collided with Cove goalie Robbie Mutch during Queens’ 2-0 away victory up north.

Hannah had to be subbed off whilst wincing in pain and holding his ribs.

And manager Peter Murphy gave the Dumfries Courier an update on his key defender.

He said: “Jack hasn’t trained all week and is still really sore. He had to go to hospital on Saturday night but because he wasn’t coughing up blood they didn’t x-ray him. So we still don’t know how long Jack will be out for.

“It’s now about Jack recovering but I’ll hazard a guess he won’t be playing on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Benji Luissint also suffered a sore one during the opening day success. Luissint – who celebrated his birthday this week – injured his hand but Murphy expects him to be in contention for Saturday.

Murphy added: “Benji has a very sore hand but he’ll be able to play I reckon. He has been brilliant for us this season alongside Ben Johnstone who has also had an encouraging start to the season.”

Queens take on crisis-hit Accies this weekend at Palmerston but despite the off-field dramas, Murphy is convinced it’ll be a tough battle.

Murphy said: “We all know of Hamilton’s problems off the field but they still have very good players available to them. It’s going to be tough but its a good test for us.

“We performed well and got that first away victory of the season at Cove but we can’t get carried away with one win.

“We’re delighted to win away especially after last season’s away form. “Hopefully we can continue our home form from last season and marry it with an improved away form.

“We want as many fans as possible to come along and back the team.”

Meanwhile, Dumfries born forward Tommy Goss has joined League One club East Fife on loan until the end of the season. Goss had put in a transfer request which was accepted by the Annan Athletic board.
