The three-year-old from the Walsh kennels at Appleby powered ahead to win by 2.25 lengths at 3/1. Next home at Halcrow Stadium was 5/2 shot Hizzy, owned and trained by Rab Hyslop of Hawick. The top honours also went south of the border in the only 470 metres race of the evening. Maurice Lawman's two-year-old dog It's A Ticket edged across the line to win by a neck in a nail-biting photo-finish. He snatched the honours from a strong challenging Joe Pep from Dexter Clark from Kirkbride.

Meanwhile, there was a sporting double with a difference on Friday night. A coach full of golfers from Barrow pioneered a new concept by combining a round of golf at Powfoot's links golf course with a Friday night's dog racing.
