ANNANDALE’S Sean Frame achieved victory in the Great North Run’s Men’s Wheelchair Race last Sunday. The 28-year-old wheelchair road racer, from Newton Wamphray, representing Red Star AC, finished first as he crossed the line in 49:24. Sean told the Annandale Herald: “It was great to get the win for the elite wheelchair race in the biggest half marathon in the world. “It was a tough one with a strong head wind, the whole race as the Great North is a point-to-point route so it all depends on the wind for that day. “I’ve been doing a lot of heavy hill work on the Beattock summit for this race because of the climbs in this race. “I was looking to break the pack early and get away on my own from the rest of the racers and it worked out. “It’s just an amazing race and the crowds are fantastic and so supportive.”
