LANGHOLM athlete Aoiffion McVittie Brangan, pictured second left, claimed gold with her Edinburgh Athletics Club in the 4 x 200m relay last Sunday. The 13-year-old was back at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow to compete for Edinburgh in the Scottish National Under 16 Girls Indoor Relay Championships. With 27 teams taking part in the 4 x 200m relay, the winners of the five heats and the fastest runner up would qualify for the final. Edinburgh Athletics Club comfortably progressed to the final in a time of 1:49.05, four seconds ahead of Shettleston Harriers who also qualified for the final as fastest runners up. In the final, Falkirk Victoria Harriers and Edinburgh Athletics Club exchanged the baton at the same time going into the last leg. However, Aoiffion, who was running the last leg for Edinburgh, pulled away from the field to win the final in a time of 1:48.80, nearly three seconds ahead of second place. Aoiffion is grateful of the support she receives from the Welcome to Langholm Future Champions Awards and The Holywood Trust
