Gearing up for Tens Tournament

MOFFAT Rugby’s Annual 10s Tournament takes place this Saturday at The Holm. The competition is always well attended with a number of teams making the trip to Moffat. Kick off for the first games is at 12 pm. There will also be a BBQ, bar, raffle and inflatables to keep the full family entertained. The club’s touch rugby roadshow, for P1 to adults, has a final session next Wednesday at Lockerbie’s King Edward Park from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm. Sessions are free. Elsewhere, Annan U18s and men have already started preparations for the new rugby season, with training having commenced down the Everholm. The 1st XV begin their West Division One campaign away to Strathendrick on August 23. They were also recently drawn at home to Wigtownshire in the first round of the National Shield on September 20.

Meanwhile, the Warriors and girls section held their final come and try session at Bitts Park, Carlisle last night. Pre-season training begins for the girls next week. Their season kicks off on August 17 with a trip to Lenzie in West Division Two. Walking rugby is also continuing on Monday evenings at Violetbank, from 6 pm to 7 pm. New players are always welcome. The club is also hosting free rugby camps for P1-7 pupils on Tuesday August 5, 12 and 19, from 10 am to 2 pm at Violetbank.
