QUEEN of the South Ladies saw a comfortable lead slip away on Sunday as they were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw by Cambusdoon Ladies at Palmerston Park. Despite a dominant first half that saw the Doonhamers go two goals up, a resilient second-half comeback from the visitors ensured the points were shared. Queens couldn’t have asked for a better start when with only three minutes on the clock, Alexandra Cannon found the back of the net to give the hosts an immediate 1-0 lead. Queens continued to dictate the tempo for much of the first half and the pressure paid off again on 40 minutes when Maisie Copland doubled the advantage. The script flipped entirely after the restart. Whatever was said in the Cambusdoon dressing room worked as the visitors emerged with renewed energy. They managed to break through the Queens’ backline twice in the second period, clawing back both goals to level the match. Queen of the South Ladies will now travel away for their final match of the regular season against Dunipace Ladies this Sunday.
