Fan-power call!
QUEENS boss Peter Murphy has issued a rallying cry to supporters to come and back his team against Stenhousemuir on Saturday as they seek a play-off final spot and the chance of promotion to the Scottish second tier. The manager reckons his players are full of confidence ahead of the Championship play-off semi final second leg at Ochilview. On Tuesday night at Palmerston Queens salvaged a draw against the Warriors, following a 1-1 draw in the first leg. Reece Lyon, right, slotted home the leveller for the hosts in extra time, sparking great celebrations amongst the home support. Speaking after the match, Murphy said: “I think it was a really good home performance. We dominated the whole game and had a number of chances. “The character to come from behind again (was great), we’ve shown it before in the league.” He added: “We changed our shape around slightly, that had a really good effect and ended up getting us our goal. “I’m delighted that that worked out for us. Reece Lyon’s finish was exceptional, he’s been exceptional all season. “(However), there’s plenty of work still to do.” Looking ahead, Murphy said: “Anything can happen on Saturday. When you get down to this stage of the season, tactics and everything sometimes get thrown out the window when it gets to the last 10-15 minutes of games. “The goal that we’ve scored there has knocked the stuffing out of them. “They’ll be confident at their place; but we’re really confident about going anywhere. We’ve had good away form this year also. “Hopefully the fans have gone away cheering and happy. They’ll be excited for Saturday, just like I am. “We will need all the support we can get to try and cheer us on and cheer the ball into the goal.” Meanwhile, Stenny boss Gary Naysmith is set to join Ayr United after the play-offs.
