Effie impresses at Inter-District Tournament

CONGRATULATIONS are expressed to Effie Gunn, from all at Dumfries Hockey Club, after she played for South-West U15 Girls’ in the 2026 Inter-District Tournament at The National Hockey Centre at Glasgow Green on Saturday May 17. Effie was part of a squad of 18 for the second season. South-West; Highland; Midland; North and South fielded one team, with East and West having two teams competing. Playing in Pool A, South-West’s results were: V West (Gold) 0-1. V South 1-1. V North 0-0. V East (Purple)0-2. Although they did not qualify for the semi-finals, all games were close and played in a good spirit, and showed an improvement on 2025 for South-West, with Effie making a great contribution. East Purple and West Gold qualified for the semi-finals, but it was East Sky and Midlands from Pool B who contested the final, with East Sky being crowned the Inter-District U15 Girls’ Champions 2026 (winning 3-1).
