Dumfries Rapper Track Hopes
A TEENAGE musician from Dumfries hopes to make a splash on the UK iTunes Top 100 with his new summer track.
Joseph Cursare aims to cement an exciting new chapter in his music career with the launch of ‘Aperol Spritz’, marking the beginning of his journey as an independent artist in the region.
“Give me two years, I’m going to sell arenas,” the 17-year-old rapper declares lyrics of confidence in a groove-driven track bringing all of the high energy of a Rizzle Kicks creation with a blend of UK pop rap simmering beneath.
Following a planned break from performing and touring, the new release is a welcome addition to the growing repertoire of an artist who has showcased his talents on the stages of YouthBeatz, sold-out tours and having amassed millions of online views for tracks he has released so far.
Having begun his craft at the age of 14, Cursare pledges that if ‘Aperol Spritz’ secures a place in the iTunes Top 100, it will bring further recognition to the region that has nurtured his talents, while serving as a reminder to those hoping to follow in his footsteps that national and international success is a hopeful possibility for Dumfries-based artists of this generation.
Originally planned as a collaboration with producer Archie CW, Cursare said that after entering the studio with an initial idea, it was quickly ‘thrown out’ as multiple ideas were considered throughout the creative process.
“Our personalities bounced off each other to make this new, refreshing track.
“We made the lyrics just by saying random things to see if they might work, and who knew… they did,” Cursare said.
“Artists want their songs to be successful, but we want this one to properly make waves in the UK rap sphere and introduce a new sound to inspire the next generation of musicians,” he added.
‘Aperol Spritz’ is set to be served to listeners at midnight on the July 17.
