Dumfries curler wins bronze

DUMFRIES curler Tia Laurie has grabbed a podium finish at the Worlds for Youth Olympic Champs in Canada. Debutant of the competition, Tia, joined by Aberdeen curler Ethan Brewster, won bronze at the Booster Juice World Junior Mixed Doubles Championships, beating out Denmark 10-7 for the medal. Just seven days prior, the Scottish duo claimed the win at the World Open Under-25 Mixed Doubles Championships in the Saville Community Sports Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the same ice where they would take bronze a week later. The title winning pair were edged out by Japan in the semi-finals, losing 6-5, which would be just their second defeat in 16 matches over the course of the two events.
