IN St Michael’s most recent match, they were beaten comprehensively by nine wickets by a well drilled away Hillhead side. On winning the toss, Hillhead made full use of the helpful early bowling conditions reducing Saints fragile batting line up to 23 for four with their bowling attack bowling tightly adopting a good offside line backed up by excellent fielding. With the pitch drying out and playing well, Riley Coy took full advantage once again holding the batting together scoring a marvellous 90 runs being the last player out with only Ronan Wilson and Naseer Fazli hanging about to offer decent support, the side only occupying the crease for 33.4 overs. To score 90 out of Saints 138 all out and nobody else reaching double figures was a reflection on how disappointing the rest of Saints batters have been this season. The score unfortunately was probably about 75 runs under par and so it proved with Hillhead racing to victory by nine wickets in 21 overs. Performance of the day once again went to Riley Coy for his batting performance. Scorecard: St Michael’s 138 all out in 33.4 overs (R.Coy 90). Hillhead 139 for 1 in 21 overs. This Saturday the 1st XI play Victoria away and the 2s are at home to Ardencaple (Helensburgh 2s).
