A MASS car boot and garage sale is set to take place in not one, but three locations - Lockerbie, Lochmaben and Hightae.

Lockerbie and District Rotary Club have set their sights on throwing the region’s biggest ever combined car boot and garage sale.

The event, taking place on May 15, will feature a car boot sale at Lockerbie Ice Rink and garage sales spread across the three locations.

Maps will be available to identify the garage sales and the Rotary’s Roger Claymore is hopeful that locals will get on board and sign up.

He said: “The garage sale idea is perfect for people with larger items who don’t want to lug everything to the ice rink.

“I know a similar event was held in Moffat and it was really successful – that’s where the idea came from but we’ve extended the garage sale to include more than just Lockerbie, adding Lochmaben and Hightae too.”

Mr Claymore added: “Car boots and garage sales always bring in big crowds. Some people will even come as far as Glasgow and beyond and I’m hoping that we can make this an annual event, make it bigger every year and really put Lockerbie on the map.”

The Rotary Club fundraise money throughout the year to donate to a selection of charities and money raised from the event will go towards charitable causes.

The event dubbed ‘The Mass Garage and Car Boot Sale’ takes place on Sunday May 15 at Lockerbie Ice Rink and various homes across the three locations.

Anyone who wishes to register their home as a garage sale location can contact Roger on 01576 202357 or 07747185475. Maps will be available from Saturday May 14 from Margaret’s Newsagents, Townhead Filling Station, Townfoot Filling Station and Sandhu Stores.
