Corona concern for Annan and Dumfries

COVID case numbers in Annan and Dumfries are not falling as quickly as health bosses expected.

And it has prompted a call for anyone in the two areas with even mild symptoms to be tested.

The NHS today revealed ‘a notable’ rate of coronavirus in the communities, despite new cases generally decreasing across Dumfries and Galloway.

Interim public health director Valerie White said: “While numbers have come down in Annan and Dumfries, there is a concern that they are remaining higher than in other areas.”

As a result, a mobile testing unit is at the Newington Centre today and will return on Friday and Sunday, while a fixed-location testing site is operating daily at Brooms Road Car Park in Dumfries.”
