Club welcome start of works

WORK is due to start next week on improvements to Lochmaben Tennis Club.

Members have been busy fundraising the £56,000 needed over the last 18 months and are looking forward to seeing a difference.

The works will kick off on Monday and will take between four and six weeks.

It will include ground levelling and court resurfacing to improve access and safety for players.

Access for the machinery and construction staff will take place via the lochside carpark, which will be closed for the duration of the works for safety reasons.

The club committee would like to apologise for any inconvenience to people who use the car park to access the bowling club, park and nearby lochside walks.

Member Deborah Bodell said: “We are delighted that we’ve been successful in securing full funding for the project but realise the works will impact on accessing the car park on a temporary basis.

“Posters have been displayed to advise on the planned closure as well as sharing on social media.”

An official opening of the courts is planned in May to celebrate and thank local businesses and organisations who have been supportive and helped achieve the target. The committee hope that current and potential new members will join at this event.

Anyone interested in joining the club can access the Club Spark link via the club Facebook page or by phoning James Templeton, membership secretary, on 01387 811543.
