Athletic claim derby victory

ANNAN Athletic Ladies were the derby winners at Galabank last Sunday as they defeated Gretna 2008 5-0 in an SWFL South clash.

After an even opening period, Annan grew into the game and started to create chances. They soon took control and led 3-0 at the break.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with the hosts continuing to move the ball well.

And they added two more goals to round off a confident display.

Phoebe Thorburn and Emily Hookway both scored braces, while Grace Thorburn also got on the scoresheet.

Annan are back in action at Galabank on Sunday as they take on Ardrossan in a rearranged fixture, while Gretna are without a fixture.
