Anvils lose out in nine-goal thriller
GRETNA 2008 assistant manager Kevin Somerville praised the performance from those in Black and White following Tuesday night’s 5-4 defeat at home to Celtic B. Somerville admitted it was difficult to be disappointed in the team after they had shown such great character to bring the score back to 4-4 before the visitors netted a last minute winner at Raydale Park. He said: “It’s really hard to be disappointed with the boys, to be honest. “There were a couple of poor moments in the first 10-15 minutes and we went 2-0 down. Obviously, the Celtic lads have a bit of quality. “We then got back in the game, and I thought we finished the half looking the better side. “We ended up finding ourselves 4-1 down and you’d think it was going to be a night where we rolled over. But the boys showed an immense amount of character. I actually thought when we got it back to 4-4 that we looked the more likely to win it. Then the Celtic lad came up with a good finish to take the three points. “But I thought everyone in a Gretna shirt gave a really good account of themselves and worked really hard.”
