GRETNA FC 2008 returned to winning ways in the Lowland League against Cowdenbeath. The Anvils beat the Blue Brazil 2-1 at Raydale Park. Kyan Gunn opened the scoring for the Anvils on four minutes. Cowdenbeath equalised with a well worked goal early in the second half. But Gretna full back Hayden Tait surged forward and fired home the winner on 81 minutes. Anvils boss Vinnie Parker said: “I thought we were good value for money today and worthy winners. “I thought we were disciplined with our shape, we were compact when we needed to be and we took risks when we needed to take risks. “I thought there were a few outstanding performances.” The Anvils were due to face Creetown in the Southern Counties Challenge Cup semi final on Wednesday night, but a sudden downpour at Castle Cary left the pitch unplayable. On Saturday afternoon Parker’s men head to Broadwood Stadium to take on Cumbernauld Colts.
