Anderson brace helps Gretna earn Brox draw
GRETNA 2008 shared the spoils against high flying Broxburn following a 2-2 draw at Raydale Park. Anvils striker Iain Anderson scored two second half goals after the Brox had taken a 2-0 halftime lead. Despite Anderson’s brace, it was central defender Tyler Bowman who earned the man of the match award on his return to the club. Black and Whites manager Vinnie Parker said: “I’m extremely happy with the result and even more so with the performance. I thought the performance, for 90 minutes, was outstanding. “You could probably go through every individual player and praise them, I thought collectively the lads were outstanding. “(When it was) 2-0 at halftime, not many people looking at that would have seen a way back for us. “But we knew if we could get a goal then we could take the game to them and try to get something. “We were probably unlucky not to win it in the end.” Parker added: “You probably could’ve picked three or four (for man of the match.) “Ando was absolutely outstanding, he grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck in the last 20 minutes.” Galashiels is the venue on Saturday as Parker’s men take on Gala Fairydean Rovers in the League Cup. Parker said: “The cup is something we want to do really well in, you want to have a good cup run. It gives you that wee break from the league. “Next Saturday I will be looking for a performance (like today). There’s no reason why we can’t put on a performance like that week-in-week-out.”
