ALFRESCO dining in Dumfries and Galloway figures have been revealed as part of a wider study into the UK’s top destinations for outdoor dining.

Dumfries and Galloway places sixth in Scotland, with a score of 47.7 out of 100.

Generous gardens, countryside space, and south-west coastal venues were considered favourably for the region.

Lower summer sunshine appears to have lowered the overall score in Scotland, though scenic countryside and ambi- ent birdsong has likely boosted figures for the Dumfries and Galloway region.

The term “al fresco” comes from the Italian “in the cool,” and is often used to reference the outdoor breeze.

Dumfries and Galloway places 259th out of 361 UK local authorities inspected for best outdoor eating and drinking experience.
