Aitken: 'It's a point in the right direction'
STRANRAER claimed a point in their first outing of the new year after drawing 1-1 with Edinburgh City at Stair Park last Saturday. In chilly conditions, Bradley Barrett opened the scoring for the visitors on 20 minutes, but Blues striker Deryn Lang headed home the equaliser just after the hour mark. After watching his side draw a third game on the spin, Stranraer manager Chris Aitken felt like it was two points dropped, however, he admitted a point would be made welcome. Aitken said: "(I see it as) two points dropped. I said that last week, after getting the result (2-2) at Annan, it was important we came here and got three points. "It was a game of two halves. It wasn't like us in the first half at all. I had to give them a jag at half time. "Michael McIndoe's team are a top team. I love the way they play and the way they go about their business. "We knew it was going to be hard. We gave them a goal, let's not be kidded, from another set piece which we need to get better at. "I thought in the second half we were excellent. But I'm disappointed because of the chances we had." Aitken added: "It's another point in the right direction. It shows you how far we've come – we're playing against good teams, drawing and feeling like we've dropped two points." Stranraer are scheduled to travel to Ayr United tomorrow night, subject to weather conditions, in the Challenge Cup Round of 16. Kick off is at 7.45 pm.
