Agony at the death for ladies
HEARTBROKEN Queen of the South Ladies were struck by late disaster once again after conceding a gut-wrenching final-minute goal in a five-goal thriller. The Doonhamers suffered total despair at the North West Community Campus as clinical Dunipace snatched a dramatic 3-2 victory right at the death. Dunipace grabbed an early opener to put the hosts on the back foot. But Queens refused to lie down and fought back when Kirsty McDonald leaped the highest to power home a brilliant header and level the scores on the stroke of half time. The momentum stayed with the hosts after the break. Just five minutes into the second half clinical striker Holly Ovens fired to put Queens 2-1 ahead. But the joy was short-lived as Dunipace hit back to level the match. They then launched a final and devastating attack to steal all three points in the final moments. Captain Charlotte Smith was awarded player of the match. Queens must now dust themselves down for a final-day trek up north to face likely League One champions Elgin City.
