A 'relay' good £40k effort!
SCORES of people put their best foot forward for a popular fundraising event at Wigtown on Saturday and raised over £40,000 for Cancer Research UK,
This year's Relay For Life saw teams of between eight to 15 people, of all ages, levels of fitness and walks of life take part in the 12-hour relay at Bladnoch Park to raise as much money as possible for life-saving cancer research.
In total the regional leg of the event raised £41,866.46 for the charity.
Thanking everyone who took part Anne Barclay, volunteer chairman of Cancer Research UK's Relay For Life in Dumfries and Galloway said: "Relayers, you are amazing!
"You laughed, you walked, you remembered, and together you have raised an astounding £41,866.46 for Cancer Research UK.
"That is the power of our community coming together to fight back against cancer.
"To everyone who took part, sponsored the event, gave their time, attended a fundraising event, donated or cheered from the sidelines: we hope you've had some rest - you have more than earned it.
"Be proud of what you’ve achieved. Because of you, we are one step closer to a world where we can all celebrate more birthdays Thank you for making a difference.
"We hope you'll pledge to continue making a difference for 2028 – celebrating 20 years of Relay For Life in Dumfries and Galloway."
