Youngsters are sharp shooters

A TRIO of young shooters have triumphed in the British Shooting Junior National Championships.

Jack Edgar from Carrutherstown, Iona Yule of Lochmaben and Tara Kane of Eastriggs have been crowned the team champions, beating other squads from around the UK.

The youngsters were representing Lockerbie Academy in the event, but due to covid restrictions they had to upload their scores from home.

They are trained by Kirsty Boardman and the Liddon family.

Meanwhile, the threesome also recently competed in the Scottish Tetrathlon and enjoyed success there too.

Jack, who is in P7 at Lochmaben Primary, was first in minimus boys, while his younger sister Kate was overall second in tadpoles.

Tara, 11, who attends Eastriggs Primary, was second for minimus girls.

Also taking part were Emily Dick, overall third for tadpoles; and James Dick, overall first for beanies.
