ROYAL Mail has brought in 19,000 seasonal workers to handle the extra mail over the festive period including many in Dumfries and Galloway and Cumbria.

The company will also be extending opening hours in over 1200 delivery offices in the main cities and towns across the UK during December to offer more convenience to its customers picking up parcels.
All of Royal Mail’s 1400 delivery offices currently open six days a week and almost half already open later on Wednesday evenings for customers to collect items.
