World award for Uncle Roy

A SPICY sauce made in Moffat has been named as the best ketchup in the world at the World Hot Sauce Awards in the USA.

And it was a double celebration for Roy Anderton-Tyers as his Chocolate Chilli Mustard also picked up a third place prize in the home of hot sauce.
The awards made it two-in-a-row for Uncle Roy’s Comestible Concoctions as they last year scooped two world champion awards and a second place award.
The Chocolate Chilli Mustard and Chillichup wowed judges in Louisiana in the condiment ketchup and mustard categories.
Uncle Roy collected two World Champion Awards and a Second Place Award in 2014 but with entries up by 50 per he was amazed to learn that this year’s entries had proved so popular.
Founder of the small family-run business, Roy Anderton-Tyers explained that the world-wide competition was dominated by American sauces, marinades, seasonings, snacks, salsas and barbecue sauce, but a respectable showing from all corners of the world saw awards going to every continent.
He said: “I feel that awards give us great credibility in the market place.
“Every year there are more and more small producers developing interesting foods, made with quality ingredients, to satisfy the increasingly adventurous public — so we will continue to bring new ideas forward and enter them in international competitions like the World Hot Sauce Awards and Great Taste Awards.
“Although we have become well known for our Natural Flavour range and our Gravy Salts and other seasonings, we are probably best known for our mustards and mustard based sauces — so watch this space for my next creation, due out
soon.”
His scrumptious sauces and flavourings are all created at their Ladyknowe premises and have gathered a global following. Over the years his products have won numerous Great Taste Awards in the gold, silver and bronze categories as well as many others.
