The 19-year-old victim was walking along the lane between Burnett Avenue towards Lochside Road between 6.45 and 7 pm when it happened.
She was approached by another woman who then assaulted her and stole personal items.
The suspect is described as white, around five foot seven tall with a heavy build and short hair. She is aged between 30 and 40 years of age and was wearing a dark grey hooded top with jeans and white trainers. It’s believed she walks with a silver stick.
Police are investigating and enquiries so far have revealed that there was a man nearby who was wearing a red top. Officers are appealing to this man to contact them as he may be able to provide additional information for the investigation.
Detective Sergeant Jim Murray said:”We continue to carry out door-to-door enquiries and review CCTV images as part of this ongoing investigation. I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to contact us, even if you think your information is not important, please do pass it on – it could prove vital in tracing the person responsible for this crime.”
