Woman dies after house fire

A WOMAN pulled from a house fire in Annan last week has died.

Yvonne Elaine Fitzner, 48, died in Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary on Monday, following the blaze at her home in Winterhope Road last Thursday.
Fire crews were called to a ‘well developed’ fire in the kitchen of the semi-detached house just before 7 pm, when a neighbour raised the alert.
A total of three fire crews, from Annan and Gretna, attended the scene, and the street was cordoned off.
The blaze was extinguished and crews left the scene at about 10.25 pm.
A black Labrador dog was killed in the fire.
Ms Fitzner was taken to DGRI where she remained in a critical condition.
Following a joint investigation with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Police Scotland say that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding this death and that the Procurator Fiscal has been informed.
