Winter Olympics is Wright this way for Vicky

DUMFRIES-BORN curler Vicky Wright has been selected to represent Team GB at Beijing 2022.

Wright alongside skip Eve Muirhead, Jen Dodds and Hailey Duff will be at the next Winter Olympics.

The team booked Team GB’s spot in the qualifiers but they were officially announced as the nation’s competitors late last week.

Skip Muirhead will compete in her fourth Winter Olympics, while teammate Dodds is also set to make history as one of the first players to represent Team GB at two curling events at the same Games.

But it will be Wright’s debut at the Games and the vice skip can’t wait to get started.

She said: “The Winter Olympics are a once in a lifetime opportunity, and you’ve got to try and take every moment as it comes and really cherish it. Once you step on ice, your nerves seem to go a bit more as you’re in control. It’s almost worse watching. But we’ll see how we go at the Olympics.

“We’re in really good form just now and we don’t want to disrupt it.

“I just need to keep doing what I’m doing. We’re training really well and need to keep going on the ice and keep our heads down. We’ve all worked really hard to get here – it’s been a challenging season, but we’re in good stead now and we just need to keep supporting each other and keep working together.”
