SHOPS and businesses in Annan have been praised for brightening up the town for Christmas with their wonderland windows.

Annan Community Council reported ‘a large number’ of entries for their annual Christmas window dressing competition.

And the standard was so high this year that they awarded four prizes instead of the usual three.

First place went to the Cafe Royal creation, which includes falling snow and giant nutcracker characters.

In second was Smilers and third equal was shared between Flowers by Joan and MACC Design.

Annan Community Council vice chair Alan Kay said: “We would like to thank all of the participants for their superb efforts bringing some much needed festive cheer to the residents of and visitors to Annan.”
