What makes you happy?

RAINDROPS on roses, whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens . . .

These were a few of Julie Andrews’ favourite things in The Sound of Music and we’ve been getting giddy in the office talking about our fave stuff, ahead of International Happiness Day on Sunday (March 20).

What makes you happy is probably a never ending and very varied list – and one that alters over time as your life changes. It might be simple things, or treats and luxuries; it could be someone, somewhere or something; or it might be too hard to put into words.

A quick poll among my Facebook friends revealed hearing children’s laughter is a sure fire happy trigger, as is sunshine and holidays. To take part and see what’s making other people around the globe happy go to Twitter and #InternationalDayOfHappiness.

ps- Here’s a few photos that sum up what’s making the DNG gang happy at the moment:

Amanda has lost her heart to Moffat Pekingese Eric, who was the fluffiest finalist in this year’s Crufts.

Fiona says her happy place is back home in her native Wensleydale and firmly believes this coaster says it all!

Abbey is enjoying seeing her 21-month-old baby grow into a little boy. She said: “Watching his co-ordination move from clumsy to precise and accidental to calculated fills me with such pride.”
