Vote to determine congregation's new minister

A NOMINEE has been selected for Annan Old and Dornock Parish Church, with a vote expected on Sunday to determine whether he will serve as the congregation’s new minister.

As the church has been vacant since the ill-health retirement of its previous minister, Reverend Sean Swindells, who is currently based in Aberdeenshire, is set to make a visit to the Annan Old Parish Church on Sunday, where he will be conducting public worship from 11.15 am.

Organisers have said everyone is warmly invited to attend the service, and join the congregation.

Following this, members on the electoral roll of the church will be asked to vote on whether to accept his nomination.

Born and raised in Derbyshire, Rev Swindells has been living in Scot- land for over 40 years.

With 30 years’ experience as a par- ish minister, he has served as a re- serve chaplain in the Territorial Army and is now involved with the Army Cadet Force.

His priorities currently include identifying and developing opportun- ities for mission as well as creating thoughtful and engaging worship. Among his interests, Sean enjoys running and coastal rowing; he is currently preparing to take on his ninth marathon.
