Van sightings sought in dog theft investigation

OFFICERS investigating dog thefts in Dumfries have made an appeal to the public for recent sightings of a “small green van” in the town.

A dog found on Edinburgh Road at around 5.30 pm last Tuesday, April 16 is believed to have been observed by two female witnesses being thrown from the van.

The dog has since been reunited with its owner, however the authorities are keen to speak with the witnesses, who it is thought were travelling in a black three door Vauxhall Astra at the time.

Police said in a statement that they “potentially may have witnessed this whole event”.

They added: “If anyone has dashcam footage of the incident or observed the dog or the green van on Edinburgh road, please contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 3177 of 16th April.”
