Tuck in at the church this Christmas

A LITTLE bit of Christmas cheer is once again being spread by the River of Life Church.

The annual Christmas Day meal will resume after having taken a different form in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Anyone who finds Christmas difficult, or would otherwise be alone, is invited to join them for a meal with all the trimmings at 1 pm, with a Christmas Day service being held at 11 am.

There is no need to book, as there will be enough for everyone.

And Pastor Mark Smith said: “It’s been a tough year for everyone, but especially challenging for people living on their own or of limited means.

“At River of Life, we love to make life better for people and what better day to do that than Jesus’ birthday.

“There’s no need to miss out; we’d love you to come along on the big day.

“More than anything, we guarantee a warm welcome to anyone and everyone on Christmas Day.

“We’ve got presents for all ages too. We’re deeply grateful to generous individuals and organisations who have helped make this possible – especially the Dumfries Lions Club and staff at Scottish Power’s Leafield Road offices.”

In addition to the dinner they will also be distributing free food on Christmas Eve – with the stores closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day, they’re letting the church have lots of lovely food which would otherwise be thrown away before reopening.

Doors open at 6.30 pm, running through to around 8 pm.

Anyone who would like to support either event should contact Pastor Smith on 07710 111727 or the church contact line 01387 264646.
