MEMBERS of the Galloway Fisheries Trust (GFT) were recently were out planting native hardwood trees along the Drumpail Burn, a tributary of the Tarf Water.

The scheme forms part of a habitat management plan for Glenchamber Wind Farm and was supported by RES.

And the work involved planting 270 trees within three new fenced enclosures and building 50 protective wire cages around existing trees that were being heavily grazed by livestock and deer.
A GFT spokesperson said: "This protection will allow the trees to flourish in the future which will improve habitats for many species and help cool the burn making it more suitable for salmon and trout."
