Top dog!

498 - that's how many of the region's dog owners entered their prized pooch in this year's search for the most photogenic dog.

Dogs from Moffat to Sanquhar, Annan to Stranraer entered the competition.

Top judge – crazy mad dog lover and chief reporter Amanda Kennedy – narrowed it down to just five.

There was Poppy the border collie from Lochside, Instagram star and British Bulldog Hoochie Mama from Annan, golden retriever puppy Jura from Dalbeattie, Siberian Husky Ammy from Dumfries and 15-week-old Rex the Staffordshire Bull Terrier from Eastriggs.

The photogenic five went head-to-head in an online poll with Jura clinching the title and becoming the winner of the third annual Most Photogenic Pet competition.

Congratulations Jura and owners Dean and Jodie McLean!

Jura will now be treated to a doggy photoshoot and soon grace the front page of the Dumfries Courier, the pooch’s most local newspaper.
