Swan rescue

POLICE officers swooped in and rescued a disorientated swan from a busy road.

Constables Lisa Ritchie and Ryan Campbell caught the sawn from the road at Tongland, near Kirkcudbright.

It was taken to Castle Douglas Police Office and the SSPCA were contacted.  The SSPCA uplifted the swan and were later able to return it to the water and reunite it with its cygnets.

Constable Campbell said: “It looks like the swan had flown off from the cygnets to get food and thereafter became disorientated. It was a bit daunting to try and capture the swan, however it didn’t seem to mind the ride in the police car.”
