THE cast and crew of Annan Academy's forthcoming Mary Poppins show have received a very special good luck message.

Curtain goes up on the production next week – and there was great excitement backstage when the star of the original 1964 Disney film, Dick Van Dyke, sent them all best wishes.

He played chimney sweep Bert in the hit musical alongside Julie Andrews.

And he even sings a snatch of A Spoonful of Sugar in the message.

Sharing the clip, an Annan Academy spokesman said: “We were so excited watching this. Massive thank you to Mr and Mrs George for organising this surprise for us, very grateful.”
