Gusts of up to 72 mph were recorded locally overnight Tuesday to Wednesday and strong winds brought down trees, resulting in some roads being closed. Police Scotland declared a major incident at 12.30 am and worked with partners from the council and fire and rescue service to provide a response to calls for assistance through until 4.40 am. Council roads crews were kept busy clearing obstructions on the roads, including the fallen trees.
