Special day for Kate

A beloved nursery nurse was delighted to receive her BEM at an official presentation in Dumfries last week.

Stewartry Lord-Lieutenant Lord Sinclair made the presentation to Kate Kaye, from Dalbeattie, who was honoured in the King’s New Year’s Honours List for services to early years childcare in Dumfries and Galloway.

Her career includes 51 years at Kelton Nursery in Crossmichael and she now works part-time at Glenlochar Nursery in Crossmichael.

Kate was joined by family members for the special event, which she chose to take place in The Globe Inn as she’s a renowned Burnsian and member of Dumfries Ladies No 1 Burns Club
