South west police probe series of thefts

POLICE in Dalbeattie are investigating the theft of a wallet which contained around £200 from a house in the town's High Street, Dalbeattie.

The theft happened at around 7 pm on Tuesday May 26 when a man was seen running from the house in High Street and getting into a silver coloured car, which may have been a Renault Megane.  The car left at that time.

A short time later a grey-coloured car was seen driving on the A711 road near to Glenearly when witnesses saw a wallet being thrown from it.

Police say on examination it was discovered that the wallet was the one stolen earlier from Dalbeattie, minus the money.

The man seen running from the house was in his 30s, short, slim with dark hair and dark framed glasses.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a Vodaphone Smart phone which was left in a cubicle in the ladies toilets at Morrisons supermarket in London Road in Stranraer was stolen sometime around 11. 50 am the same day.

A ferret has also been stolen from a cage at a house in Oliphant Court, Dumfries, sometime between 2 am and 10 am, also on Tuesday May 26 May.  The animal is described as being a polecat ferret with a brown body and cream face.

Finally, sometime between 12.50 pm and 3.20 pm on Tuesday May 26,  a small amount of cash was stolen in a break-in to a blue-coloured Ford Fusion car which was parked at the rear of the Bollywood Restaurant in London Road, Stranraer.
