Jardine's shock at fake fundraiser

A FAKE fundraising page set up in an attempt to benefit from the tragic death of a young horse rider has been condemned.

Posting through his company’s Facebook account, racing yard owner Iain Jardine claimed his personal account had been hacked and used to set up a fake funeral fund for a member of his team, Natasha Galpin.

Twenty-two-year-old Natasha passed away on Wednesday as a result of injuries sustained in a riding accident at the yard in Carrutherstown.

In the post, Mr Jardine wrote: “Sadly some desperate person has felt the need to hack my personal Facebook account and set up a just giving page for poor Natasha.

“This is NOT legitimate. Please DO NOT donate.”

Mr Jardine attached a screenshot of the fake account, although it appears the page has since been taken down.

Social media users have voiced their anger at the fake page, describing it as “utterly despicable” and “beyond words.”
