Sentence deferred on neglect charge mum

A COURT has called for background reports on a mother of three from the Stewartry who allowed her children to live in conditions which were extremely cluttered and unclean.

Dumfries Sheriff Court this week heard that the house had rubbish and exposed litter trays on the floors, heaters with no guards, and unsuitable bedding with sharp and dangerous edges exposed.
On Wednesday, the woman, 28, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted wilfully neglecting the youngsters all aged under 11, or causing them unnecessary suffering or injury to their health at their home last December.
Sentence was deferred for a month.
