Scoop Hill saga rumbles on

MOFFAT’S Scoop Hill windfarm saga continues to rumble on after the community council was served with legal papers.
The controversial 60-turbine scheme and a battery energy system proposed by Community Windpower Ltd (CWL), five kilometres south-east of the town returned to the public arena in May, when CWL launched a legal challenge against Holyrood’s decision to reject the scheme.
This week Moffat and District Community Council were served legal notice from the developers.
A spokesperson confirmed: “The community council and various others have been served legal notice by the solicitors for the developers, of an application for a Judicial Review of the Reporters and Ministers decision.”
Moffat’s community council represented the town during the public enquiry in December 2024, and since joined other communities across the region in calls for a moratorium on commercial renewable energy applications.
Meanwhile, there are five other proposals in play for the Upper Annandale Valley, including Rivox, Kinnelhead, Watchman, Clyde South and the battery energy storage proposal for in-between Moffat and Beattock by Conrad Energy.
The question of Scoop Hill is set to go before the Court of Session, however no details of the hearing have been made public yet.
