Runners smash charity challenge

AN ANNAN-based running cohort has raised over £3000 for a mental health charity.

Members of the the Blue Bell Running Club had their eyes on the finish line last Saturday as 17 runners collectively completed – and surpassed – their “Big 250 miles for Mental Health” challenge.

The group formed early last year and is comprised mostly of Annandale runners, however, those who have since moved away from the area still joined the fundraising event, with some participating from Glasgow, Somerset — and even as far afield as Texas.

Organiser Grahame Shaw said: “Everyone involved ended up running more than their original individual target on the day and we ran a combined 260 miles.

“In doing so we have raised £3300 for the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH). We would like to thank everyone who donated. Hopefully It will go a long way to get people the help they need, especially during this difficult time.”
