Road trip spot for region
Dumfries and Galloway named among Scotland’s top road trip destinations, in a new nationwide study.
Tyre specialist company, Blackcircles have revealed the best British counties for a road trip, looking at factors such as tourist attractions and campgrounds, as well as road safety and fuel station access.
Dumfries and Galloway rank 7th in the Scottish rankings, as the Highlands take first as the best place to visit on a Scottish road trip.
According to the study, the stats that have put the region in the top 10 include 92 campsites, the second highest total in the list, just below the Highlands. The area also includes 234 walking trails, 55 tourist attractions and 34 fuel stations, making it an appropriate destination for visitors looking to explore the Southwest by car.
Dumfries sit behind Highland, Aberdeenshire, Perth and Kinross, Fife, City of Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders in the standings.
