Region's lockdown hobbies revealed

THE most popular hobbies taken up by people in Dumfries and Galloway during the coronavirus lockdown have been revealed.

Households locally are turning to language learning, training with resistance bands and DIY to pass the time at home. Also in the top six are yoga, baking and gardening.

Experts from NetVoucher.co.uk used Google trends data to research what people in different areas are getting up to.

A spokesman said: “Many people have a lot more time on their hands right now than they are used to and as the lockdown continues increasing numbers are switching off their televisions and finding more interesting ways to keep themselves entertained. The perfect hobby is one that lets you tap into some of your energy and creativity but doesn’t tap into your wallet in a significant way. Families up and down the UK need a break, and hobbies provide them the chance to have fun and relax.

“Immersing yourself in a new hobby can be really good for mental health and helps reduce stress, which is really important at the moment.”
