Ramblers happy to get going again

LOCAL walking club Dumfries and District Ramblers are delighted to be rambling once again.

As restrictions on outdoor meet-ups have eased eased in recent weeks, members have gotten together for their first strolls of the year.

And in line with government guidance, the rambles have been restricted to groups of no more than 15 walkers.

But the group is still welcoming new members — and organiser Vivienne Pickering is urging anyone interested in joining to get in touch.

She said: “If you feel that you have enjoyed walking as part of your daily exercise and would like to do more or simply find new walks then you may be interested in Ramblers. We offer a wide variety of walks from a stroll around a loch to a 10/12 mile walk in the countryside taking in the views.

“All our walks are confirmed only five or six days in advance at present. They appear on our website – dumfriesramblers.org.uk. Have a look at our website, or if you just want general information contact me on 01387 252926.”

The next outing planned is set to go ahead next Sunday, April 11 when the group is heading along the Kippford to Portling coastal path (pictured above).
