Pupils back to online learning

ONLINE learning has been reintroduced for hundreds of pupils at Lockerbie Academy today.

The school say they have been forced into the temporary situation, which only affects the S1 and S2 years, due to “significant challenges with covid and other absences” among teaching staff.

But they are hoping it’s just a short term predicament that will see the two younger years learning at home today and tomorrow.

Headteacher Brian Asher said they will review the situation for next week.

In a letter to parents and carers, issued yesterday morning, he said: “I realise this is difficult and want to assure you we have tried everything possible to avoid this.

“We have discussed the situation with the authority and have used every means possible to keep everyone in school, but we have no choice at this point but to use this option for now. I guarantee we will minimise disruption as much as possible and keep this as brief as possible.”
