Hunt on for away day house raiders

THIEVES have targeted yet another house in the area while the occupants were away.

WITNESS PLEA . . . the latest in a spate of house raids was in Scotts Street, Annan

Police Scotland are investigating a series of similar raids on homes in Annandale, Eskdale and Nithsdale.

Officers today appealed for witnesses to one of the latest incidents, this time close to Annan town centre.

The break-in took place at a house in Scotts Street sometime between Friday August 7 and Monday August 10.

A number of watches, valued at more than £1000, a small quantity of cash and a laptop computer were among the haul.

Constable Julie Rankin of Annan Police Station said: “This is yet another housebreaking in the town centre area which has happened whilst the occupants have been away from home.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious over the weekend in what is a very busy street in the town.”

She added: “Callers should use the 101 number to call us with any information which might help catch those responsible.”
